Today’s update has lots of goodies!
Well, two.
Two is lots, isn’t it?
First, a release announcement and cover reveal of my new book: Verse for the World-Weary.
This is the first book in a brand spanking new space fantasy series called The Verser Volumes.
If you like Star Wars, Murderbot, and Firefly, you’re going to cack yourself over this one.
It’s what you’d get if Han whacked Luke, had Murderbot as his sidekick, and Vader suffered from small-dick syndrome.
The cover
Without further ado, here’s the cover:

This kickass design was made by Lump Thumb Studios, a comic artist that specialises in a vintage look. I think it’s boss. How about you?
The blurb
He slagged the saviour of the galaxy. Now, he has to take the bastard’s place.
Nishin Reed has made a cosmic mistake. After escaping slavers and becoming the protective captain of a ragtag starship, the middle-aged freelancer goes all out to avenge the death of one of his crew. And shocked to learn he’s offed the poster boy for the rebellion, the scruffy black-marketeer is horrified when he and his crew inherit the guy’s impossible mission.
Praying the hefty reward will help him reunite with his long-lost daughter, Nishin sets course to fetch an unknown package from a quarantined planet. But as he flees determined assassins, killer droids, and hungry aliens, the loveable rogue can feel his luck running dry.
Is he leading his shipmates to glorious victory or an infamous grave?
Verse for the World-Weary is the humorous first book in The Verser Volumes science fiction fantasy series. If you like brash yet endearing heroes, found family, and cockamamie schemes, then you’ll love Simon Tull’s fast-paced epic adventure.
Check out the first chapter
If that tickles your toes, you can have a read of the first two chapters.
The Primacy Edition
I’m calling this first version of the book the Primacy Edition. The reason for that is I want to leave the door ajar for making some changes as I get deeper into the series.
I don’t expect much to change in later books, but I also don’t want to lock myself in just yet.
So my solution to the internal conflict of wanting to share this puppy with you and wanting to be able to retrofit cool shit is to slap a label on it.
Classic.
The Primacy Edition will only be available for purchase through limited places, the first being my website. The edition that makes it onto platforms like Amazon and Kobo will be the final version.
If you buy the Primacy Edition, you’ll be entitled to a copy of the final edition once it’s ready too.
The release schedule
I’m staggering the release for this new book, adding new platforms and formats over time.
The reason for this is simple: bare-naked capitalism.
I think I can get more visibility for my writing this way. By delicately fluffing all these fucking algorithms that control what we see, I’m hoping to get my books in front of more people.
Here’s what the planned schedule looks like. Note the word planned, as in, I change my mind all the freaking time 🙃
Only versers know the future, after all.
To start, the Primacy Edition will be available for purchase directly through my website on July 23rd 2026.
Once I’ve got them setup, I’ll also be posting a chapter a week for free on Patreon and some other platforms. I’ll let you know when that’s available.
Later next year, once I’ve thoroughly outlined and begun drafting the remaining books, I’ll be running a Kickstarter for a special edition with some extra artwork and other funky stuff.
Following that, I’ll be making it available on stores.
ARC offer
Right now, I’m on the hunt for ARC readers.
ARC means Advance Reader Copy, which means you get a copy of the book for free ahead of the release in exchange for an honest review. Ideally, that happens before the release date, but hey, shit happens, and if it takes a bit longer, no worries.
Initially, I’d love to get some reviews on Goodreads & StoryGraph.

Apply for an ARCOtherwise, I’ll be in touch soon, and I hope you have a great week!
