It’s that auspicious time to reflect on the last 3 months of activity.
I hit some solid milestones this quarter.
1. Finished the 4th draft of A Phantom in the Forge
This was a biiig, capital-A Achievement, more than worthy of a meaningless digital trophy on a massive, multi-national corporate platform intent on invading our privacy.
I’ve only got polishing left on A Phantom in the Forge at this point, but since it’s clocking in at 134k words, there’s still a slog left.
But I’m really excited to call that Done and kick off the Kickstarter campaign.
2. (Almost) released a new book!
Verse for the World-Weary is out with ARC readers at the moment, and I’m less than a fortnight away from releasing it for sale on my website (coming 23rd of July).
I got the cover sorted in the last quarter. After agonising over what it should be for months and months, I was very pleased with the gorgeous work of Lump Thumb Studios.

3. My next book needs less work than I thought
I’m working on the 3rd draft of a side story to The Slip Saga right now. I’ve kept this one relatively quiet, though if you’re an internet sleuth you’ve might’ve caught sight of it.
It’s an optional extra to be read between Books 1 & 2, and goes into the backstory of some of the characters from Book 1, paving the way for Book 2. It was meant to be a novella, but it’s pipped the 40k mark for that, so it’s turned out to be a short novel.
I read the manuscript last week ahead of this latest draft, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it doesn’t need a whole lot of work. It’s actually closer to Done that A Phantom in the Forge.
Which is good, because I’m (well) behind schedule with Phantom, and aiming for an October Kickstarter launch.
