Quarterly update

Into the home stretch

Posted by Simon Tull on October 6, 2026

Blimey, this year is going by fast.

Time for a review of progress over the past 3 months.

Launched Verse for the World-Weary

A new book! If you haven’t been paying attention (I don’t blame you), this is the first entry in my irreverent space fantasy series called the Verser Volumes. I released a preview edition called The Primacy Edition for purchase through my website.

Once I’ve nailed down the rest of the series, I’ll release the final edition, and release it more widely. Anyone who’s been brave enough to buy before that will be sent the final volume gratis.

I seem to have the unfortunate condition of not being able to enjoy my achievements for very long, but releasing this book was a big moment. I’m very proud of it, and I think there will be a subset of readers who really get a kick out of it.

A huuuge thank you to anyone who bought, read, or wrote a review (or did all 3!). You’re amazing people, and I promise I’ll get the next entry out as soon as time permits.

Final draft of a super secret novella complete

This one isn’t so secret. If you check out my progress report, you’ll know this novella is part of The Slip Saga. I won’t say much more than that for now, but I’m excited to share this book with you.

There was a time during the early drafts that I didn’t think I’d be able to pull it together, but I think the final product is a cracker. All that’s left at this stage is proofreading (oh the joy).

Here’s a little sweetie treatie too: early backers of the Phantom Kickstarter are going get this sucker for free 🕵️

Final draft A Phantom in the Forge 70% complete

Can you claim a partial milestone? Fuck it, I say I can.

I’m feeling reasonably confident I’ll be ready to launch the Kickstarter for Phantom this year, despite multiple delays.

I’ve started working on the campaign page in my idle minutes, and I’m hoping to share a preview of that with you in an upcoming update. More soon!

That’s it. Not too shabby considering how busy I’ve been with non-writing stuff.

I am absolutely gagging to write something new at this point. It’s been many months of editing editing editing to get these 3 books ready for publication.

Okay, I just checked, and the last time I was working on the first draft of a book was back in July 2024. Holy bollocking bungholes Batman.

I already know what I’m going to write next, and I’m desperately looking forward to it.

“Soon,” fate whispers in my ear.

SOON.
